Government tightens Rules around Companies

On 9 September, the Minister of Commerce announced changes will
be made to the requirements around company directors and company
registration. The changes are deisgned to help our
registration process prevent criminal activity from overseas.
The changes will be introduced in 2012.
The main changes are:-
- Companies will be required to appoint at least one director or
agent who is ordinarily resident in NZ
- Directors will be required to supply their date and place of
birth
- Companies will be required to apply for an IRD number when they
incorporate
- The Registrar will have wider powers
